Sometimes you have to take a step back. Look at the world. Reevaluate where you are going.
As my oldest gets ready to head to college in the fall, I’m excited for her. Her life as a separate person is starting. I won’t hold her hand anymore. She will make her own decisions, sometimes succeeding and sometimes failing. I have done everything I can to prepare her for her life. In the end, though, it is *her* life.
Of course, I’m also excited for my own life. I see more time for myself and my pursuits. I have made my line in the sand, however. There are things I need to do, for me. I am working on learning the word “no”.
So, take a moment. Look at your own life. Are you where you want to be? Are you spending the time you want with loved ones? Are you doing the things you enjoy?
If the answer is “no” to any of these, change it.
