Things happen in in your life. You realize you want something different or perhaps something MORE!
I have one daughter in college and one is a Junior in high school. They are starting their own lives. Soon, my life will not longer be centered around being a single parent. I will have time (and maybe even some energy) to do the things I want to do.
So, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things.
- Where am I now?
- Is this where I want to be?
- Am I content doing the same thing day after day?
- How far can I push my low boredom threshold before I go crazy?
Of course, then the projects and roles I’m currently involved with made my list.
- What is my future with Girl Scouts with neither of my girls in it?
- Am I ready to start the business I’ve always wanted?
- Should I continue the Enrichment Project and Grab ‘n’ Go sheets?
- Are the things I’m doing now working or is there a better way?
- Should I start the mastermind group I’ve wanted to try?
So far, I’ve decided the following:
The business is definitely a go! The opportunity for growing and experimenting is endless. If I can make enough to support myself, I can focus on my projects instead of someone else’s. I’d like your help, but only if you’re willing. I’m looking at self-publishing, crafting and helping adults helping kids. Pretty much what I’ve been doing with the Enrichment Project for free. Well, at least free to everyone else.
I’ll keep going with the Enrichment Project and Grab ‘n’ Go sheets. These are great indicators for what everyone is interested in trying and doing themselves.
I also love learning, so the 100 hours (or more) of training I work through each year is a must for me!
I will continue working with Girl Scouts. My role has slowly been evolving to event planning for the Service Unit and supplemental teaching for adults. I will be stepping away from advising independent girl members (Juliettes) and working with the girls one-on-one. If you’ve been to one of my events or trainings, you’ll find that much of the work I’ve done eventually goes into the Enrichment Project and / or Grab ‘n’ Go sheets.
My best friend has two small boys. She helped me with my Girl Scout troops when the parents refused. I would like to return the favor. We have a few years, but I like to plan. She’s discussing 4-H. I’ve started looking at the organization and I’m excited!
So, while I’m wrapping my head around what I need to adjust for the next adventure in my life, you’ll see some changes on the blog, social media sites and more. I’ll keep you updated through the blog and email list.
Editorial calendar, here I come!
P.S. Why don’t you join me in taking a step back? Write down the things you do every day. Which ones do you dread doing? Which ones can you give to someone else? What have you always wanted to do but haven’t had time? Make a change, large or small, and see how it goes.
