Using the included pattern, create a refrigerator magnet from stitched plastic canvas.
This pattern can become a SWAP by adding a pin instead of a magnet.
By not trimming off the excess plastic canvas and stitching it white, it can become a coaster.
Tools:
- Scissors
- Yarn needle, optional
- Pattern
Materials:
- Green yarn
- White yarn
- Tape
- Magnet and glue
Steps:
Shape — Cut plastic canvas into a square, 25 by 27.
Before stitching — Cut a piece of green yarn about 18″ long. If you do not have a needle, tape one end of the yarn to create a temporary “needle.” Stitch diagonally across the “x”. Be sure all stitches are slanted the same way.
Stitching the pattern — Start at the upper right corner of the trefoil with the green yarn. Leave a tail (about an inch) and wrap the yarn you are stitching with to secure the end. Stitch across the row. When you’ve come to the end move to the next row. When the green is complete, loosen a couple of the stitches and run the tail under the stitches. Pull taunt and snip off excess.
Finish — For a fridgie, trim off the excess plastic canvas carefully and whip stitch around the edges. Attach a magnet to the back of the stitched canvas.
