A recycled craft to make a cuddle toy.
Start with a trip to your unmatched sock basket to find a few socks. The longer the “cuff “, the longer the soctopus tentacles will be.
Tools:
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
Materials:
- Sock
- Polyfill
- Thread
- Wiggle eyes, optional
Steps:
Select sock — Find a single sock that you don’t mind repurposing. Knee-highs
make longer tentacles.
Add polyfill — Where your foot normally would be, add polyfill. Light stuffing
will make it softer, but it will get flattened more easily.
Sew closed — With a running stitch, sew the sock closed so the polyfill doesn’t come out. Tie securely.
Cut tentacles — Fold the “cuff ” down and cut in half. Then continue halving and cutting until you have eight tentacles.
Options:
We’re using wiggle eyes to speed up the craft. You can instead sew on felt or stitch yarn to make soft eyes.
For one-color socks, use fabric paint to stamp designs on your soctopus.
