For young kids, stringing beads on a piece of string can be a challenge. So, why not put them on a pipe cleaner?
The beads are less likely to slide off and it is easy for them to adjust the size.
Tools:
- Wire cutters or scissors
Materials:
- Pipe cleaners or string / fiber
- Pony beads
- Jewelry bags
Steps:
Sort beads — Sort beads so you have one color per crafter. Put the beads of one color into a jewelry bag to make it easy to hand out. Make sure you have additional beads on hand.
Choose — Allow crafters to choose a pipe cleaner or string. Also allow them
to choose one bag of color beads.
Make bracelet — Each crafter introduces himself / herself to another to get a bead from them. For older participants, ask them to share some information about themselves as part of the exchange as well.
Twist and tie — After each crafter has gathered all of the beads, let them twist / tie the bracelet for wearing.
