Weekly challenges allow you to do more complicated challenges as you have a longer timeframe to accomplish your goal(s).
Steps
1. 12 Week Challenges.
A 12 Week Challenge allows you to do a more in-depth challenge. You might do multiple pieces for a themed item or something that’s more difficult than you would attempt for a day or hour challenge.
2. Change it up.
If you want to test a more difficult challenge and 12 weeks is too long, adjust the 30 Day Challenge into a 4 week version. You can adjust your timeframes to fit your challenge and your life.
3. Check out some challenges.
Not sure what you want to do? Check out the supplement “Challenge Possibilities” for some general ideas or one of the themed sets of ideas. If none appeal to you, grab your favorite search engine and find something that looks interesting. Be sure to include an idea of what you want to do for your challenge.
4. Enrichment Project challenge.
Spending a week earning a digital badge allows you to go beyond the basics. You can experiment and explore the steps more fully. Check out the possible badges you might earn over this challenge.
5. Doing the same thing or something different.
Starting a body building routine that has multiple exercises / rest times during a week. This is one possible challenge. You would repeat the same items every week with the goal of changing your body shape over time. Unlike shorter challenges, you would have a set of tasks that may or may not be the same every week. All of your efforts would be designed for a single goal.
You might decide to create twelve short stories or record twelve podcasts. The steps would be the same each week, but the results would be different. This would allow you to develop a series of products / marketing items.
You could also plan on doing a yard project, decluttering your home, building and populating a web site or even starting a class to learn ballroom dancing. There are many ways you can approach a 12 Week Challenge.
6. Tracking your success.
Tracking your accomplishments is important. You can keep track on your calendar, use a planner, journal about the experience or even print and mark up the tracking sheet that comes with this badge program. There is also a notes area on the sheet so you can write down your thoughts, challenges, etc. When you’re done with the challenge, you’ll be able to see what you accomplished as well as a way to review the adjustments you might want to make for your next one.
7. Continue.
If you’ve enjoyed your 12 Week Challenge, up the stakes and claim it as a 26 Week Challenge or a 52 Week Challenge. You might even decide to move your challenge into a life style choice.
8. Find support.
Even if you don’t have anyone doing your challenge with you, encouragement can make a huge difference. Discuss your challenge with your friends and family and ask for their support. Depending on your challenge, you may find that a coach or mentor would increase your accountability and make you more likely to complete your challenge.
9. Find a partner.
Sometimes a partner can help you complete your challenge. You have someone to discuss difficulties with, experience the highs and the lows together, find alternatives to your main goal and more. Find a partner who is enthusiastic and ready to complete the challenge with you.
10. Build a team.
Your team can be virtual or real. Virtual teams can track their goals together, plan on meet-ups and share advice. Real teams not only do the same as virtual ones, but you can physically meet to do pieces of your challenge together. In fact, you might want to add a little friendly competition to your challenge.
11. Rewards.
As the time lengthens on your challenge, the idea of incremental rewards becomes a better one. Having a big one at the end is great, but if you get something every week or every other week, you have something to look forward to on those days when you just don’t want to embrace your challenge. Brainstorm rewards that you might want to include in your challenge.
12. Do it again.
If you’ve done it once, you can do it again! You can do the same challenge, a more difficult one along the same lines or even try something completely new.
13. Change the time.
You can extend your weekly challenge to other amounts if you have a specific goal in mind or want to do it longer. You might choose 26 or 52 weeks instead of the 12 weeks that is featured in this badge program. These would allow you to do more in-depth and complicated challenges. Decide if your challenge needs to be extended.
