Grab ‘n’ Go: Spirella

Spirella (or spirelli) is a paper technique where you take a shape with a notched edge and wrap thread around it to make a pattern.

Tools:

• Punch OR template and pencil
• Scissors

Materials:

• Shape
• Thread
• Tape

Steps:

Make shape — You can purchase a punch with notched edges. You can also find free templates online that you’ll need to outline and cut out.

Select thread — Choose to either compliment or contrast your thread color with your shape.

Tape the end — Tape one end of your thread to the center of the back of your shape.

Wrap — Wrap your thread through two notches on the front.
