We did a Magical Fairy Adventure for the Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts. One of the activities was to find the hidden fairies in the woods. This is one of the fairies I made for them to find. Since it is fall, it was easier for the little ones to find the bright colors in the brown leaves, branches and trees.
Tools:
- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
- Scissors
- Ruler
Materials:
- Faux fabric flowers, disassembled
- Floral wire or pipe cleaners
- Fusible beads
- Glue
- Wooden beads
Steps:
Wireframe — Cut wire into two pieces. The shorter piece should be 1/3 of the total size and the longer 2/3. Coil the ends of the shorter end. Lay over the body and wrap the two ends through the “head” and pull back down to make the frame.
Skirt — From the bottom (feet) slide on a fusible bead, the flower layers you want, then a second fusible bead. Glue together. Separate legs to hold beads in place while drying. Coil feet. Head and wings.
Slide a bead over the wire for the “head” and glue. Cut out wings from flower pieces and glue in place.
Tip: You can put faces on the flower fairies or leave them blank so the recipients can do it themselves.
