These bracelets used to be made from candy wrappers. Now, we can choose bright or preprinted paper for a completely new look.
NOTE: You can continue making a longer piece to use as garland or a smaller one for a bookmark.
Tools:
- Scissors or paper trimmer
Materials:
- Pre-cut strips of paper
— 4-1/2″ x 2″ one-sided print
— 4-1/2″ x 1/2″ two-sided print
Steps:
Paper — Trim the pieces of paper needed. It takes about 3 pieces of paper to make 1″ of finished bracelet.
Fold, One-Sided Print Only — Fold each strip in half, lengthwise to 4-1/2″ x 1″. Unfold and fold each long edge to the center fold you just made on both sides. The pattern will be on the outside.
Fold, All — Fold in half to 2-1/4″ x 1/2″ to create a “v”. Fold each end toward the center, as shown.
Weave — At a 90° angle, insert one strip into the other. The closed end of one piece will hold together the inside folds of the second. Continue linking in a zig-zag pattern to the desired length.
Finish — Attach the two ends to finish the bracelet.
