Even as an adult, I love to play with bubbles. Why not make your own wands? From drinking straws to pipe cleaners, you can make a wide variety of wands.
Don’t feel restrained by using a circle. Try squares, triangles and other fun shapes!
Tools:
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
Materials:
- Drinking straws
- Pipe cleaners
- Wire hanger
- Wire
- String
- Beads
- Dowels
Steps:
Hands —Make a circle with your hand, dip and blow.
Drinking straws — Just dip and blow. You can also grab a bunch and tie them together snugly to get a lot of small bubbles. Just make sure you can fit the bunch in your mouth.
Pipe cleaners — Twist two pipe cleaners together. Atone end, open up a “circle” to use in the solution. Alternatively, you can wrap a pipe cleaner around a shape (like a cookie cutter) on one end.
Wire hanger — Bend the wire hanger so it resembles a circle, square or any other closed shape.
Wire — Find decorative, colored wire at your local craft store. Cut and shape to any style of closed shape.
String — Choose two straws. Using a piece of string four times the length of the straw, string the two straws on it and tie off . The straws will serve as handles.
Decorate — Any of the above can be used as is or decorated. For example, you can add beads to the pipe cleaner or a dowel to the wire hanger to give it a better reach. Experiment with your bubble wands and have fun.
